During the 2014 West African Ebola crisis, Donewell’s expertise was pivotal. Deployed to Liberia’s outbreak epicenter, his team identified traditional burial practices as a transmission catalyst. Their solution—training specialized burial teams—became the global standard, curbing infections and saving countless lives
Architect of Africa’s Health Security
In 2016, Donewell joined a select team to establish the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). As a Senior Epidemiologist, he has spearheaded outbreak responses and health initiatives across the continent, fortifying Africa’s resilience against pandemics. Today, Africa CDC stands as a testament to his vision of a healthier, safer continent.

Mastering Epidemiology: A Continental Trailblazer.
Driven by a passion for disease prevention, Donewell pursued a Master’s in Public Health through the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP), graduating as the top student in 2013. His groundbreaking thesis on SMS reminders for childhood immunization earned him the *William Forge Award* at the 63rd Epidemic Intelligence Service Conference in Atlanta—a historic feat, making him only the second African honoree since 1963.
