In 2023, our chess team made history by clinching the coveted title at the FIDE World Youth Chess Championship in Rome, Italy. Competing against the best from Europe and beyond, our team of talented players—Ishmael Kaitano, Gamuchirai Gogoma, and Ezywell Mutema—displayed unparalleled skill and resilience, bringing home the championship trophy and raising the Zimbabwean flag high.

This victory was not just a win for our school but a milestone for Zimbabwean chess, showcasing the untapped potential of rural talent on the global stage.
Our success didn’t stop there. In 2024, our team continued to shine at the Botswana International Youths and Cadets Chess Championships, securing five medals, including the overall best male player award. Anesu Mutendi, a Form 3 student, led the charge with a gold medal and a cash prize, while Gamuchirai Gogoma and Ano Makumbe added silver and bronze to our tally. These achievements underscore our commitment to nurturing world-class talent and fostering a culture of excellence
