Obert Nobert Zinyama (born April 29, 1995) stands as a beacon of resilience, leadership, and community spirit, embodying the values of Cheziya Gokwe High School. From his early days as a student-athlete to his current role as a mentor, Zinyama’s journey is a testament to passion, perseverance, and the power of giving back.
Early Excellence and Leadership
During his time at Cheziya Gokwe High (2008–2013), Obert’s leadership shone brightly as captain of the school’s U20 football team. Under his guidance, the team clinched third place at the provincial level, proudly representing Gokwe South District—a milestone that ignited his legacy in local sports.

Rise in Professional Football
Obert’s talent propelled him to professional football in 2013, debuting with Gokwe’s Division 1 side, Chemumvuri Pirates. His skill and dedication saw him ascend through clubs like Sables FC, Silo United, and DC Academy. By 2021, he returned to Gokwe as captain of Paramount United FC, a role that earned him a historic move to Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League with Whawha FC in 2022. His career reached new heights at Triangle United FC in 2023, though a persistent knee injury cut short his playing days, leading to retirement at 29.

Scholar and National Ambassador
Balancing sport and academia, Obert pursued a Diploma in Education at Hillside Teachers College. His athletic brilliance persisted, as he was named Best Player at the ZTISU Games, securing a spot to represent Zimbabwe at the CUCSA Games in Botswana—an honor highlighting his dual commitment to excellence on and off the field.

Transition to Teaching and Mentorship
Forced to retire prematurely, Obert channeled his energy into education, becoming a teacher. Yet his love for football never waned. Today, he dedicates himself to nurturing Gokwe’s next generation of athletes through coaching, aiming to create pathways for young talents to thrive. His vision is to build a legacy of opportunity, ensuring no potential goes unseen in his community.
